While Philips began making electric shavers in 1939, World War II delayed their marketing of the shaver in the USA until 1948. Philips was not successful in marketing this shaver until a two-headed model was introduced in 1951.

Philips raised eyebrows in 2006 with the introduction of the Philips Norelco Bodygroom shaver for shaving male body hair. An online website as well as a demonstration on Howard Stern's show garnered attention.^[3]

Norelco is also famous for its Christmas commercials. One featured Santa Claus riding the shaver up and down snow drifts, making the ads the standard for all to follow in the commercial industry, and setting off an ad campaign war that worked very well.

I also planned on timing the event to determine whether a Bodygroom shave was a "my date is on the way over" quick cut or an all-day buzz kill. Here's what I found:

Pleasantly, the Bodygroom was everything it promised. Chest, abs, underarm and groin shaving was not only extremely quick and comfortable, but took half the time of my usual shave. I was a little weary having made shaving mistakes in the past that resulted in healing time, but after only a few minutes I realized that electric shaver was perfectly curved with comfrotable coils designed not to nick. The peace of mind decreased my shave time. The cost of the Bodygroom was also cutting edge at just over $30.
