Disposable razors account for nearly 70% of the wet-shave market in volume terms but account for only 30% in terms of monetary value. The razor blade business accounts for $6 billion revenue each year of which the French shaver company BIC has been a leader in the disposable razor market.
Schick and Gillette are the other 2 main competitors of BIC. BIC has been expanding in the overseas markets as well to capture a larger global market share. It intends to invest $4 million in Brazil to strengthen sales of its disposable razors. It currently owns 30% market share with 600 million units sold annually. In the US market, it accounts for 11% of the market in terms of revenues and 22½% in terms of unit volume
